Why the Illinois Leadership Certificate Program?
Being a candidate in the Leadership Certificate Program enabled me to both hone and exercise my leadership skills independently and in a diverse team. I learned how to effectively and efficiently network, communicate and collaborate with others who have different working styles, how to persuade and influence others, how to mitigate and handle difficult situations and abrupt change, as well as how to lead a team successfully. I was able to practice my decision-anxiety and be more confident in my decision-making abilities. By continuing to develop these skills, I aspire to emerge as a more seasoned leader ready to apply my newly minted skills in the workforce, using the concepts learnt in this program, and from the various activities, events, and people I have met along this journey.
The only way to progress is moving forward and to put these skills into practice.
